The feeling exercise

 Learning how to reconnect with your Heart calls for your good Self to pay full attention to your emotions.

That is, to your awareness (Spirit or Soul), your thoughts (mental activity) and your feelings (every vibration from the tip of your head down to your toes).

Pay attention to your senses. Listen to all sounds near and far, all smells, all feelings of touch on your body (hands, clothing, hair fall etc).

It is important to feel the feeling just the way it is - including all the distorted beliefs and fears they hold.

Remember - overwhelming, resistant and prickly feelings are not real, but to understand them means to be fully present to them with no interpretation.

It will feel very hard to begin with. And it can feel physically gooey, but you are here, now, fully present to your Mind and your feelings.

The exercise

You may either close your eyes or leave them open. Feel your body and all its vibrating energy. Feel how this energy is moving and the intensity of this moving energy.

  1. Feel the feeling just as it is, free of any thoughts you have about it. Breathe deep and slow as you let your Self feel the energy and the power in the feeling with your full awareness.

  2. Feel love for the feeling just the way it is. Feel love for the power in the feeling.

  3. Feel love for your Self feeling the feeling and for feeling the power in the feeling.

Be patient, keep breathing with you full awareness as you allow your Self to feel the feeling, its vibration, its intensity and the energy power behind it.

This energy power is - your own power.

As you learn to sit with your feelings, the intensity of what you are feeling does lessen and eventually dissolve.

By feeling - and giving love - to the feeling, you learn to turn this energy power into a new feeling of empowerment. And choice that you never believed you had.

The more you practice feeling love for your feelings in all their distortions, the more quickly you learn to develop a loving and trusting relationship with your Self through the insights and wisdom you gain from listening to this energy power.

Over time you will be able to feel these once intense and sticky feelings fully, and freely, without any fear holding you back.

You are learning to not only open your Heart and Mind, but you are learning to enjoy the constant and free flowing feeling of love all the time. Even on those tough days. Generosity never leaves your Heart. You stay connected.

We live in a culture where we are taught to believe it is dangerous and scary to feel and express our feelings.

And in doing so we loose our power to believe we have a choice. We learn to feel powerless.

It is here you learn to move through the most difficult and debilitating feelings of hopelessness to empowerment.

Use the feeling exercise as often as you are able to, to release your emotions. There may be days when you feel resentment from feeling judged, or sad from remembering how you felt misunderstood and perhaps mistreated. Do the exercise and turn the feeling of powerlessness into your power - and choice - to feel good, to feel loved and to do what you thought impossible. Take your time. This is what nurturing your Self feels like. 💚

Now go and do something nice for your Self. Something that makes you happy to finish shaking it all out.
